Every writer needs something to write on, I suppose. And notebooks and journals beat loose pieces of paper that get lost along the way. So I figured I’d write about my favorite journals, and where to find them.
In the photo are three journals I’ve used over the years. One is for my fiction characters, one is for daily life, and one is for cataloging all the journals I’ve used for daily life chronicling (I’m soon to finish #82).
The black and the dark brown leather journals I got at Barnes and Noble in the States. While the jutting metal clasp was novel, it didn’t fit right in the shelves without damaging the other journals, so it stays out of there. The tan leather journal is from Victoria’s Journals, one of my favorites so far. I’ve got somewhere around two to three dozen Victoria Journals, mostly in two styles – old book medium and old book large. The tan one is large, and is available on Amazon.
Victoria’s Journals didn’t pay me to endorse their products but I love their journals. Lined paper that takes fountain pen ink as well as it does gel pen and ball pen if times get rough. A faux leather cover that darkens with time, with intricate embossed designs and a bit of metallic foil on the cover and the top of the text block. Their attention to detail fills me with delight. It is easy to carry and easy to store. Ten or eleven of the large Victoria’s Journals old books fit a Muji storage box perfectly!
Some people say writers keep a few dozen unused journals that they deem too pristine to write in. I don’t do that. Each journal I keep is either for gifting to a friend or for writing in eventually. And as seen since the mid 2000s, I am a prolific writer. 😀
